This enfant terrible of the watchmaking world has his roots in Valencia, on the east coast of Spain, and has studied Biochemicals, Fine Arts and Philosophy before embarking on his now-illutrious career as a watchmaker.
The brand is relatively young, created in 2004, while the first collection of complicated Franc Vila timepieces was shown at BaselWorld 2005. In fact, the first Franc Vila tomepiece was a minute-repeating wristwatch with a perpetual calendar and moon phases with a world-premier slide mechanism positioned inside the watch case.
Says Franc Vila: "I just do watches that I love tp wear myself. I want to create timepieces that aresp strong that people can't help but fall in love with them. I can't make simple pieces as I love complication and technics too much. Hence, production of any Franc Vila timepieces will always be limited."
Highly original and exceedingly mechanical, Franc Vila timepieces are also filled with minutiae and often come in very, very limited quantities - usually from eight to a maximum 0f 88 pieces.
This year, the brand continues woth ots original and instantly recognisable brand DNA. Pieces are architecturally-sculpted and are definitelu designed for the confident male in mind. One of the collections that particualrly stood out was the Franc Vila 'El Bandido' Collection -full and deeply-black pieces which hide their face like bandits. The piece-de-resistance, however, is undoubtedly the Franc Vila FVa No. 1 "El bandidi' Tourbillion Planetaire 5 days Power Reserve, a handmade, hand-decorated flying tourbillion with hours, minutes and power reserve indicaion. Its dial is are also very handsome, with black mother-of-pearl with guilloche and a Black Diehard Extreme Steel deployment buckle. Choose from rubber sports or crocodile straps and this watch is ultra-limited to just eight pieces.

These kind of wrist watches are sold at extremely high rates but they are nonetheless nicely received by several fashion enthusiast.
