History: Established in 1996, Jorg Hysek's career includes working in the design department of Rolex as well as other pretigious names, including Breguet, Cartier,Ebel, Boucheron, Tag Heuer and Tiffany & Co. He had also won the Grand Prix of Geneva for a cuff watch designed for Vacheron Constantin in 1984.
Philosophy: Born out of Hysek's love pf haute complications and the avant-garde, he left Hysek SA in 2006 to found his own label, HD3, but the brand continues to thrill watch lovers all over the world who can't get enough of its singularity and strong design DNA. The Hysek concept is characterised by very creative lines, with singular and distinctive cases. It also recently created its own manufacture and recently introduced its first tourbilion in conjunction with presentation of its new collection at BaseWorld 2008.
Maths & Science: Hysek essentially offers seven singular lines, each with its own personality. Mention must be made of the Furtif - an exceptional technical piece with an audacious design, the Colosso - an amazing mechanical piece set in an extraordinary complicated case with the precious minute repeater mechanism, and also the Viking Hesperos - a dual time GMT retrograde tourbilion, inspired by the Greek god of time.
Report Card: The highlight of Hysek's 2008 collection lies in its novelties, all enriched with extreme details and an instantly recognisable style. Top of the class would be the Abyss Tourbilion - the first movement imagined and manufactured by Hysek. It has a robust and assertive look and is, without doubt, a visual as well as mechanical marvel. Fitted with a power reserve and a big date, the disc of the plate is visible behind a marvellous sapphire dial which covers half of the tourbilion and is splendidly encased in titanium. Limited to just 30 pieces.
